  • Specifies enforcement provisions, including misdemeanor penalties for unauthorized automated vehicle operation and conditions under which authorizations may be suspended or revoked.
  • Includes additional provisions for compliance, vehicle requirements, and interaction with emergency services in contexts involving automated systems.

The bill was passed by the Texas Legislature in June 2025 and is set to take effect September 1, 2025 (or upon immediate effect if certain procedural conditions are met).
